New Works by Daniel Sperry, R.C. Sayler, and Rubens Ghenov
Daniel Sperry, 27, lives in Detroit. Studied at WSU, graphic design and printmaking, BFA 2008. Primarily works in/with sculpture/objects, with a focus on ideas of perception, expectation, physics, history and communication, colored with a dry sense of humor.
R.C. Sayler was born in Massachusetts, spent his childhood in the suburbs of Los Angeles, and came of age in a rural farming community in southern Illinois. After completing his MFA in Sculpture from RISD in 2010, Sayler returned to Illinois where he currently works as a carpenter. He is co-recipient of a RISD Graduate Studies Grant and an International Sculpture Center’s Outstanding Student Achievement in Sculpture nominee.
Rubens Ghenov was born in São Paulo, Brazil in 1975. He holds a BFA from Tyler School of Art and a MFA from RISD, both in painting. He currently works in Philadelphia, PA.
“This work is my own intersection of a myriad of subjects which altogether weave my own internal library. These range from inscribing a selective and preferred diction of hip hop onto articles of 1960’s literature, to personal dilemmas with what constitutes a painting to the building of an internal and spiritual architecture informed by São Paulo’s collected High Modernist buildings and its makeshift favelas.”
